Official Goodnight Moon stamp issue details
According to the official USPS Goodnight Moon stamp announcement, the issue date was May 2, 2025, in North Kansas City, Missouri. The First-Class Mail Forever issue uses a pressure-sensitive pane of 16 stamps with eight designs. A reproduction of the book cover appears in the center of the pane, while the individual stamps show colorful details from the story. Art director Derry Noyes designed the pane using existing artwork by Clement Hurd.

Each complete pane contains 16 stamps. The quantity selector expresses the available choices as a number of panes and the corresponding total number of stamps. Use the total stamp count when estimating how many finished mailpieces you can prepare, and keep a small reserve for address corrections, damaged envelopes, or future correspondence.
- 5 panes / 80 stamps: a practical quantity for personal cards, invitations, or a small recurring mailing.
- 10 panes / 160 stamps: suitable for a larger card list or several coordinated mailings.
- 15 panes / 240 stamps: useful when planning a medium-size campaign or maintaining a design reserve.
- 25 panes / 400 stamps: intended for higher-volume correspondence where one consistent theme is preferred.
These examples describe quantity only; they do not determine whether one stamp is sufficient for a specific envelope. Select the displayed option that matches your required count, then verify the order summary before checkout.
Where the Goodnight Moon design fits
The bedtime-story artwork can complement baby announcements, family correspondence, children's event invitations, thank-you cards, reading-program mail, and keepsake collections. For business or nonprofit mail, consider whether the illustrated theme matches the recipient and purpose. Test the placement on one finished envelope so the address, return address, barcode clear zone, and stamp remain unobstructed.
Check postage before preparing a batch
Forever Stamps are intended for qualifying one-ounce First-Class Mail letters, but required postage depends on current postal prices and the mailpiece's weight, dimensions, thickness, shape, and machinability. Square, rigid, unusually thick, oversized, or heavier pieces may require additional postage. Weigh and measure a fully assembled sample, including inserts and decorations, and verify current requirements with USPS before mailing a large batch.
Store unused panes flat in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight, moisture, and high heat. Keep the adhesive backing intact until use. If you are preparing many envelopes, separate the panes into manageable batches and reconcile the number applied against the number of finished mailpieces.
